Gurcharan Das – ‘One Crore micro capitalists’
Professor Christopher Lingle on Entrepreneurship

Editorial

At 60, the vision of India that comes to my mind is not that of an aging goner but of a hopeful nation. Globally, India is touted as the next super power and not without hard facts- a sustained growth rate, a demographic dividend waiting to be reaped, democratic traditions and a growing consumer market. On closer inspection, these macro indicators can mean little when you see the other facets of India, where hunger, malnutrition, disease illiteracy and government coercion breed. The ray of light that shimmers is undoubtedly the youth of India. They feel a sense of hope and the ambition to work towards a better future is palpable. I say that from my own experience of attending the Communicating Freedom Workshop held at Navi Mumbai this August. The young people's dreams are potent and they are in a hurry to better their world. Some participants wanted to create a borderless world and some of them wanted to shape a place where everyone has equal educational opportunities. They realize that social change cannot be brought about overnight, and are ready to do their bit- start from improving their self, neighborhood, their college, their social network. This issue of eCatalyst celebrates the spirit of the youth and liberty on the occasion of CCS’s 10th anniversary!

We look forward to hearing from you- your opinions, essays, research papers or articles on what liberty means to you at ecatalyst@ccs.in. Looking forward to hear from you!

In Liberty,
