“FOF Ranchi”

Shabi Hussain

Friends of Freedom Ranchi organised a floor discussion on November 10, 2006 with its members and with Rajan being the facilitator. The topic for the discussion was 'Reservation in Higher Educational Institutions'. The debate ended with the conclusion that reservation is something very against competition. And even if there is any need for reservation, it is at the primary school level. The marginalised class must be provided with freeships and other perks such as free supply of stationary etc. to lessen the dropout rate at primary school.

Friends of Freedom Ranchi organized another group discussion on February 2, 2007. The group was given a situation where each of them were asked to imagine that they were sent to a remote village of Maharashtra for a project. They had a partner who is from abroad. The village doesn't have electricity, proper medical facilities or toilets and they cannot bring with them food from outside. Now the group was asked to list down the problems they would face and pick the top three. Four new members also joined the FOF: LYF(Liberal Youth Forum) on the occasion.
