The rapid democratisation of technology over the past decade has increasingly impacted the nature of political assertion across the world. Yet this democratisation or decentralisation of matters of governance in social relationships is not all-pervasive. We see contradictions emerge that manifest themselves through the looming questions of ethics and politics in the sphere of internet technology, one of the major examples being the nature of internet usage in China.
By contrasting the consumer’s perspective towards the internet in China with that of India, CCS Intern Karan Tripathi examines how the difference in construction of identities creates disparate public opinions on internet policy.

APPLICATIONS FOR THE 17TH EDITION OF RESEARCHING REALITY INTERNSHIP ARE CLOSING IN ten days!
'Researching Reality Internship' is a six-week long intensive program focused on exploring the theory and practice of existing policy directives in an urban context. The internship is ideal for applicants who wish to apply social and economic principles to current policy issues through in-depth investigation and analysis. It provides training in areas of quantitative and qualitative research, methodology, data analysis, and critical thinking.
The selected candidates will get to study various agencies, boards, corporations, departments, schemes, legislation, and programs of the different tiers of government; evaluating existing systems both domestic and international, viewing benchmarks and best practices to recommend sustainable and long-term policy improvements in the functioning of government structures.
