This module lays down basic principles of economics like - Prices and
Markets, Industry and Commerce, Work and Pay, Time and Risk -
interdependence. It eventually leads to answering the question - "how
the world works?" from an economic angle

This module introduces the field of Public Choice Economics which uses
the insights of economics to explain political processes such as
elections and bureaucracy. This module also traces the evolution of
institutions that are key to the policy making process and highlight the
differentiating principles of these institutions

This module explores the institution of "Rule of Law” - that each
individual should be free from discretionary power and the arbitrary
decision-making of others. Through case studies, it will also examine
what happens in the absence of rule of law, thus highlighting why it is
a critical institution for a free society.

This module focuses on the role played by economic freedom in
uplifting the poor and increasing prosperity. This helps in identifying
the ways in which markets can work for the poor and critically assess
policies/interventions that act as barriers to livelihood in India.

This module trains scholars to think and write critically, effectively, and
proficiently. The sessions help them navigate from the thinking of an
idea to the translation of those thoughts into writing opinion pieces on
public policy.
