Centre for Civil Society and Centre for Transparency and Accountability in Governance (CTAG), National Law University Delhi invites abstracts on the theme of ease of living and doing business in India. As of now, 22 states have enacted public service guarantee laws to ensure accountable, time-bound, and transparent delivery of public services and a few states have enacted ease of doing business laws. There is, however, a paucity of scholarship surrounding these laws and related governance mechanisms. To bridge this gap in academic literature we welcome abstracts on the following sub-themes:
-
Public service guarantee laws and ease of doing business laws;
-
E-governance and digitisation of service delivery;
-
Mechanisms to enhance transparency and accountability;
-
Implementation of the law;
Workings and efficacy of the public service guarantee commissions (also called Right to Services
-
Commissions in some states);
-
Efficacy of the complaints and dispute mechanisms in such laws;
-
Role and relevance of private intermediaries such as Lok Seva Kendras;Global best practices; or
-
Any other relevant sub theme identified by the authors.
The methodology may be in the form of primary research and/or secondary research using methods such as legislative analysis, economic analysis, or comparative studies. These are only indicative and not exhaustive.
Abstracts may be up to 300 words in length and should also include a brief summary of the research methodology to be used (up to 100 words). Any uniform method of citation can be used. Co-authorship up to two persons is permitted.
Authors of selected abstracts will be invited to present their abstracts, and receive comments from a panel consisting of experts from CCS and CTAG. After this, selected works will be published as chapters in a book edited by Dr. Prashant Narang and Dr. Jeet Singh Mann.
- The deadline for submitting abstracts is 19th February, 2023 to submit@ccs.in with the subject [CCS-NLUD Abstract Submission]. Please submit author CVs and a cover letter independent of the abstract.
- The abstract must be in ‘.docx’ format only.
- Please do not include author names and bios in the abstracts
