Centre for Civil Society (CCS) is grateful to all of its supporters including those who contribute time, material and/or money to help us continue doing our work. CCS maintains strict donor privacy policies to protect the integrity and privacy of personal information gathered from our supporters and visitors through all of our communication channels, as well as from visitors to our Websites and those who donate through them.
CCS does not sell, exchange, or rent your personal information to any organization or individual. We will not divulge personal information to any other organization or individual other than that necessary to transact, fulfil and or account for online donations that you have authorized.
CCS will only use your phone number and email address if we need to verify information or to thank you for your contribution, ask for your opinion, request your assistance, or invite you to a special event.
CCS is committed to protecting your privacy and the security of all data on the https://www.ccs.in website (the “Site”). To demonstrate this commitment, we have adopted this privacy policy (this “Policy”). This Policy is based on the principles of notice/awareness, choice/consent, access/participation, and integrity/security in the collection and use of all information regarding our users and their activities at the Site.

Donor privacy: CCS and its affiliates do not sell, share, or trade donors’ names or personal information with other entities or send mailings on behalf of other organisations. With your permission, we may occasionally share information with related organisations about a particular project or campaign you are interested in. For example, if we are co-hosting an event with a partner organisation and you sign up to attend that event, we may ask your permission to share your contact details with our partner. WHAT INFORMATION DO WE COLLECT?
When you make a donation, attend an event or volunteer with CCS, we may ask for information such as your name, age, occupation, address, nationality, email address, phone number, PAN and other relevant information CCS may require.
CCS uses cookies to facilitate authentication and personalization across our web systems. A cookie is a small amount of data that is sent to your web browser from a web server and stored on your computer's hard drive. CCS uses only anonymous information (such as IP address) to track how our online visitors use our website. This data is sometimes stored using cookies. You may have the option of setting your browser to reject cookies, however, doing so may negatively impact upon the performance of the Site or restrict us in better serving your needs and interests. Centre for Civil Society collects or record the user's personal information to the extent it is required under law for us to obtain.
HOW DO WE USE YOUR INFORMATION?
CCS uses personally identifiable information you provide about yourself:
- To process your donation
- To keep an accurate record of all the donations received
- To send you a receipt for your donation
- To send you a thank you note for your donation or volunteering
- To respond to your questions or comments about CCS
- To send you additional information about CCS Projects or newsletters and to update users about its happenings and developments through bulletins with an option of not to subscribe for the same
- To make sure the user is receiving the most appropriate and relevant information
- To send you invitations for upcoming events that may interest you
CCS uses non-identifying basic information (aggregate data) to analyze site use and to improve the content and design of the site. CCS may share aggregate data such as how many people attended an event, how many volunteers, average donation amount etc. with sponsors and partners. These statistics will not include any personally identifying information.
Our website has stringent security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse and altercation of the information under our control.
CCS will not use personal information in any way other than as described under Terms & Conditions. Exceptions to these are limited to sharing personal information to cooperate with law enforcement officials.
Disclosure of Aggregate Information: We may combine your personally identifying information and information about your preferences and activities, with those of all or a particular group of our users to prepare collective profiles of our users and their activities for our internal use. For example, we may track the number of our users who view certain pages or use certain features or compile the total dollar amount of sales conducted through the Site in a particular geographic region or to track purchasing trends. Such information, and other information we derive from individual users’ information, allows us to continue to grow and provide you with quality information through more accurate marketing and advertising of the Site. We may share aggregated information concerning our users, without attribution of personal information, to other companies with whom we conduct business.
Disclosure of Personal Information to Outside Parties: Based on your consent we may disclose your personal information that you provide or that we collect, such as your name, address, email address, telephone number, credit card number etc. to outside parties. We will, however, comply with any court order or other requirement of law, which requires us to disclose your personal information.
OPT-OUT
CCS permit you to Opt-out of receiving certain communications from the Site. We will not send unsolicited messages to you if you indicate that you do not wish to receive such messages. You can opt out of the e-mail updates by clicking the “unsubscribe” button at the bottom of each email or contacting us directly.
Usually, Centre for Civil Society does not store user data. In case of specific sign-ups, the data is stored as per user request. The user can opt to delete all the information he/she has provided by simply requesting such by mail. All information, without exception, will be deleted in two working days.
PRIVACY OF E-MAIL LISTS
Individuals who join CCS’s mailing lists via its website or through its campaigning engagements are added to its email database. Centre for Civil Society does not sell, rent, loan, trade, or lease the addresses on our lists to anyone.
PAYMENT GATEWAY
Centre for Civil Society uses well-recognised and proven technology for payments. Payment information is transferred by the use of an SSL connection which offers the highest degree of security that the donor’s browser is able to support.
Several layers of built-in security, including an advanced firewall system, encryption of credit card numbers, and use of passwords, protect the collected information.
Credit / Debit Card Security: CCS is grateful for the donations that help us continue our valuable work. When you donate to CCS online, your card information is secured; your credit card number is used only for that particular transaction and is not stored. If you allow us to store your credit card or bank information for future use such as recurring donation, such information will be stored by the payment services financial institution. CCS only uses financial institution that adheres to the industry standards for storing such information.
IS DONATION SECURE?
Absolutely. The security and confidentiality of your information is our highest priority. We use industry-standard SSL (secure socket layer) technology to protect your information and provide a safe and secure environment for online donations.
IS DONATION TAX-DEDUCTIBLE?
Yes, it is. All bank transfers to CCS are Tax Deductible under 80G. To claim tax exemption, please keep the donation receipt as your official record.
A donation receipt will be sent to you at the email address that you would have provided while making donations, as soon as your donation is processed.
NO LIABILITY
Our Website has links to other websites that may collect identifiable information about you. CCS cannot ensure the privacy practices of other sites and are not responsible for any damages due to them.
COPYRIGHT PROTECTION
All content on this Site including graphics, text, icons, interfaces, audio clips, logos, images and software is the property of CCS and/or its content suppliers and is protected by Indian and international copyright laws. The arrangement and compilation (meaning the collection, arrangement, and assembly) of all content on this Site is the exclusive property of CCS and protected by Indian and international copyright laws. Permission is given to use the resources of this Site only for the purposes of making enquiries or making a donation. Any other use, including the reproduction, modification, distribution, transmission, republication, display or performance, of the content on this Site can only be made with the express permission of CCS. All other trademarks, brands and copyrights other than those belonging to CCS belong to their respective owners and are their property.
GENERAL
This Policy is governed by the laws of New Delhi, India, without regard to its conflict of laws principles. Jurisdiction for any claims arising under or out of this Policy shall lie exclusively with the state courts in New Delhi, India. If any provision of this Policy is found to be invalid by a court having competent jurisdiction, the invalidity of such provision shall not affect the validity of the remaining provisions of this Policy, which shall remain in full force and effect. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHALL CCS HAVE ANY LIABILITY WHATSOEVER FOR ANY CONSEQUENTIAL, INCIDENTAL, INDIRECT OR SPECIAL DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF THE BREACH OF THIS POLICY, HOWEVER OCCASIONED.
DONOR PRIVACY POLICY
CCS and its affiliates will not sell, share or trade donors' names or personal information with any other entity, nor send mailings to donors on behalf of other organizations. This policy applies to all information received by CCS, both online and offline, as well as any electronic, written, or oral communications.
CCS uses a third-party service provider to manage credit card processing. The service provider is not permitted to store, retain, or use billing Information except for the sole purpose of credit card processing on CCS’s behalf. To the extent CCS engages a third-party service provider to provide internal support, donors’ information may not be used by the third party provider for their promotional purposes or for any other purpose from which it was intended.
REFUND POLICY
Welcome to this web-site of the Centre for Civil Society. We make public our policy on refunds and cancellation of donations received for the social cause on payment gateway as under:
- No refund/cancellation for the donated amount by any donor will not be entertained, the online donations will be through the online payment gateway.
- No cash or refund of money will be allowed.
- Once received the donation for a cause will not be refunded to the donor. No cancellation to be made.
However, refunds may be considered for unintended donations. To request a refund, please send an email to donate@ccs.in or ccs@ccs.in stating the reason for your request. You will also need to send the original receipt you received from CCS, at its office address.
CCS takes the utmost care in processing donations online and offline, as per the instructions given by our donors. However, in case of the unlikely event of an erroneous donation or if the donor would like to cancel their donation, CCS will respond to the donor within 7 working days of receiving a valid request for a refund from the donor. The timely refund of the donation will depend upon the type of credit card/banking instrument used during the transaction. The donor will have to send CCS a written request for a refund within 2 days of making the donation to CCS’s official address or email donate@ccs.in along with-
- Proof of the deduction of the donation amount.
- In cases where the donation receipt has already been issued to the donor, the donor will have to return the original receipt to us at our office addresses.
- If the tax exemption certificate is already issued, then we are sorry but we will not be able to refund the donation. However, in case of a valid refund request due to any error on CCS’s part, CCS will refund the donation and bear the costs of the same.
By using the website or by providing the information, you consent to the collection and the use of the information you disclose on the website in accordance with this Privacy Policy and you shall be bound by the same.
