About Centre for Civil Society (CCS): 

Centre for Civil Society (CCS) is an independent public policy think tank based in New Delhi, focusing on education, livelihood, and policy training to promote choice and accountability across private and public sectors. CCS engages with policy and opinion leaders through research, pilot projects, and advocacy to translate policy into practice.

Position Overview:

The Centre for Civil Society is accepting applications for a minimum two-month internship commitment for its flagship program, Jeevika. Through the Jeevika Mobile App, we aim to offer pro-bono legal support to the Delhi street vending community. The intern will be responsible to support the operations, partnerships, research and digital communications arising from and/or for the program. A hybrid internship inclusive of field work along with an on-site office engagement, this engagement will aim to further practices that encourage the accessible and affordable public service delivery of legal aid.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Drafting legal documents, including RTIs, writs, complaints, notices etc.
  2. Conducting data collection and outreach engagements; fostering Jeevika’s legal, advocacy and outreach facilities
  3. Assisting vendors in organizing and collating legal documents and providing legal advice based on the Jeevika guidelines
  4. Handling of any additional tasks assigned by the CCS team within the scope of the project

Qualifications:

  1. University students/recent graduates are welcome to apply (Essential)
  2. Fluency in reading, writing and speaking the following languages: English, Hindi (Essential)
  3. Ability to generate communication collaterals including but not limited to policy reports, research articles, and blogs (Essential)
  4. Keen interest in applying  theoretical knowledge into complex on-ground realities (Essential)
  5. Prior experience in community outreach (Desirable)
  6. An availability to engage for an approximate 48 working hours/week (Essential).
