Centre for Civil Society brings you another edition of its online certificate workshop on ‘Statistics in Public Policy’.

What is the workshop about?

The online workshop will equip the participants with a preliminary understanding of key concepts in statistics relevant to public policy research. These concepts include - basic probability, sampling, hypothesis testing, regression analysis, and guesstimates. Participants will learn these concepts as tools, with the end goal of applying them to real-world scenarios. The session will focus primarily on the application of these concepts via examples, including some negative examples with improper use of statistics to avoid common (and often dangerous!) pitfalls. Additionally, we will also look at scenarios where we will encounter theoretical limits on applying statistics.

What are the key takeaways?

> Applying statistical techniques to specific problems in public policy.

> Developing a mindset to analyse data from statistical and probabilistic perspectives.

> Recognizing the limitations of analysis and assertions (admitting that we don’t know what we don’t know).

What is the eligibility criteria?

Students, working professionals, and public policy enthusiasts above the age of 18 with an interest in statistical application in the policy ecosystem.
