About the role
As a Senior Finance Associate at our think tank, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring financial integrity, transparency, and strategic resource management across the organization. This role involves overseeing day-to-day financial operations, supporting budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring compliance with grant requirements, and managing donor reporting.
You will work closely with leadership and program teams to translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights that inform evidence-based decisions and support mission-aligned growth.

Key Responsibilities:
Financial Record Keeping:
- Oversee the maintenance of financial documents, records, and files, ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including general ledger entries, journal entries, and bank reconciliations.
- Organise and maintain financial documents, invoices, receipts, and other relevant paperwork.
- Support the team in making a presentation/PPT for a meeting (Team, Management, Board, Donor)
- Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes.
Financial Reporting & Analysis Support:
- Prepare financial reports (Donor, Management, Board), including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Coordinate with the program team in preparing budgets and forecasts by gathering and analysing financial data.
- Conduct basic variance analysis to identify discrepancies between actual and budgeted figures.
- Prepare supporting documentation for internal and external audits.
Compliance & Internal Controls:
- Ensure all financial transactions comply with organisational policies, accounting standards & donor’s accounting rules.
- Oversee the implementation and adherence to internal financial controls and procedures.
- Respond to auditor inquiries and provide necessary documentation.
Other Support :
- Assist with other/special finance projects and initiatives as assigned.
- Identify and suggest improvements to existing financial processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Collaborate effectively with other departments to resolve financial queries and gather necessary information.
Education: Bachelor's/Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a
related field.
Experience: 3-5 years of experience in a finance or accounting role. Experiences from the development sector will be added advantage.
